Originally learned HTML as a way to join the geek crowd in high school; been hand-building standards-based HTML, CSS, and light JavaScript ever since.
Started with Photoshop 3.0 around '96 or '97 for web site design; have also used Fireworks, The Gimp, and Visio for basic mockups and/or detailed site design.
Since 2004, I have frequently used Visio for building network diagrams, data and process flow charts, data models, and UML object oriented models. At various times, I've also used Illustrator, PageMaker, and Publisher for newsletter and flyer design.
Built corporate Intranet using classic ASP, with small datastore in Microsoft SQL Server 7.
Created advanced data acquisition and analysis routines, data storage and retrieval interfaces, for particle physics research
Designed data-driven websites in PHP and MySQL for both UT HEP Lab and for BiGAUSTIN; customized a few different CRM packages; and built custom (unpublished) plugins for the DotProject and Drupal platforms.
Developed client-tracking database for BiGAUSTIN, using extensive VBA scripting to manage complex user interfaces in Microsoft Access
At Augeo, completely rebuilt existing data-driven loyalty marketing website, using better coding practices, SQL stored procedures, and integrated security measures.
Lead Augeo's development team in building .Net platform of loyalty web sites used by The Home Depot, Pepsi Co, US Foodservice, and others.
At Fiserv, have lead offshore and onshore development of custom ETL applications and end-user GUIs (web, Windows Forms).
At both Augeo and Fiserv, I have been principal designer and, at times, administrator of SQL Server 2005 databases – installing, designing tables, implementing encryption, tuning query performance, configuring replication, and more.
Worked with Microsoft MVPs to learn and develop basis of Augeo's business intelligence system, including build of numerous reports and basic SSIS packages.
Use of both tools has continued at Fiserv, where I've created advanced SSIS packages that incorporate web service calls and fuzzy logic, and have learned to use XML transformations to create complex text files through Reporting Services.
